Your 5 days Uganda Gorilla and Wildlife Uganda Safari will comprises of a visit to Uganda’s most visited national park, the Queen Elizabeth National Park and a trip to the country’s celebrated home of the endangered mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The forest’s dense greenery spread across the park’s mist-covered hillsides is a home to an estimate 400 mountain gorillas, which is more than half of the world’s population of these endangered species.
The Queen Elizabeth National Park is a gem in Uganda’s tourist attractions, comprising of its savannahs, thick forests, fresh water lakes, craters, and fertile wetlands, offer a conducive environment and a habitat to over 95 mammal species including the classic big game, 10 primate species including the endangered chimpanzees, 600 bird species and various kinds of floral and plant life.
Your 3 days Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with an English-speaking driver who doubles as your guide picking you from a suitable location within Kampala. You will then embark on your gorilla trekking Uganda excursion – your memorable safari expedition spent in the primitive African wild.
Your first stop will be at the equator in Kayabwe, about 72km from Kampala city. While at the equator, you will have a chance to see the imaginary line that divides the world into two equal halves. You will then arrive at Buhoma, one of the four main gorilla trekking regions in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in the early evening.
The second day of your Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with a very early breakfast before you head out to the park headquarters at around 7:00am. You will be briefed about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ while on a gorilla trekking excursion.
You will then hit the trails with a team of professional guides and trackers. A typical gorilla trekking excursion lasts between 2 – 8 hours. Hiking through the beaten trails in search of the potent giants is exerting but greatly rewarding.
Once you encounter a gorilla family, you will spend an hour observing its members; how the domineering male silverback (head of the family) displays his authority and ability. Besides the males, you will also see the caring mothers tending to their little ones; feeding some, rubbing a few, carrying others and keeping a watchful eye on those playing in the trees. You will be allowed to take photos of the experience.
On the third day of your Uganda gorilla safari ttour, you will have breakfast and then embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enjoy the splendid countryside beauty; the rugged hills, vast plantations, and occasional sightings of herdsmen grazing their long-horned cattle.
You will arrive at Uganda’s prized Queen Elizabeth National Park in the mid-morning or early afternoon. Before checking in at your lodge, you will embark on your first game drive and the tree climbing lions in Ishasha are must watch.
The fourth day of your gorilla wildlife safari will begin with a game drive at 6:30am after an early breakfast. You will head out to the renowned Kasenyi plains with an experienced game ranger. The plains are a mass of African savannah known for harbouring the largest concentration of game as compared to any other section in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Later in the afternoon, you will set out for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel. You get to sit back and enjoy the sight of elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, kobs and large herds of hippos on the riverbanks. Occasionally, visitors are able to spot leopards, lions and forest hogs. Besides the various mammals, the channel is a habitat for various species of water birds.
On the last day of your Uganda gorilla safari, you will have breakfast and embark on your journey back to Kampala.
