The 14 days Pearl of Africa Magical Mother Nature safari package offers you the opportunity to explore Uganda’s prime attractions and best safari destinations. This safari package includes an assortment of adventures to engage and excite you.

While on this 14 days Magical Mother Nature Uganda safari, you will enjoy; a series of game drives through the different national parks, boat cruises on the Nile and lake Mburo, nature walks and birding excursions, mountain gorilla trekking excursions, chimpanzee tracking expeditions and interactions with the native people and there cultures such as the Batwa.

Itinerary

Day 1Drive to Jinja town in Eastern Uganda

Your 14 days Pearl of Africa Uganda Magical Mother Nature tour will begin with a driver-guide picking you and your family from Entebbe airport or your residence in Kampala. After briefing you on the major highlights of your safari, you will embark on a drive to Jinja – Eastern Uganda.

Your guide will stop briefly on the way for your family to have lunch at a very nice restaurant or hotel. When you reach Jinja in the evening, your guide will drive you to a comfortable lodging for dinner and overnight.

Day 2Explore the source of the Nile – Visit Sipi Falls

You will have breakfast and then go out for your day’s safari adventure. You will first visit the source of the Nile and then embark on an exciting white water rafting adventure, still on river Nile. Besides white water rafting, there are a series of optional activities a family can engage in; bungee jumping, canoeing, kayaking, biking and horse riding.

After having lunch, you will embark on a transfer to Sipi Falls, a series of three waterfalls situated in Kapchorwa district, northeast of Sironko and Mbale districts. As you approach Sipi falls, the legendary Elgon mountain – commonly referred to as Mount Masaba by the native locals, will come into view. You will tour the falls and the several trail heads; the starting points of many hikes up Mount Elgon.

Day 3Game drive in Pian Ure game reserve – guided nature walk

After having breakfast, you will embark on the next adventure on your Magical Mother Nature safari Itinerary – a game drive in the pristine Pian Upe game reserve. During the drive, you will be able to see various wildlife and primate species including; lions, zebras, cheetahs, buffaloes, kudus, hertebeests, vervet monkeys and olive baboons.

You will also see a variety of bird species including but not limited to; ostriches, Jackson’s hornbills, white-headed buffalo weavers and Hartlaub’s bastard. After the game drive, you will have lunch and then embark on a guided nature walk before checking in at your choice accommodation.

Day 4Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park – game drive in Narus Valley

After having breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park to continue with your Magical Mother Nature excursions. You will check in and have lunch at your preffered Safari Lodge.

You will then go for a game drive in Narus valley situated south of the park. The region is covered in savannah grasslands and acacia woodland. Narus valley has the highest concentration of game in the park because it is the only region with permanent water sources throughout the year.

While doing an afternoon game drive, you will see masses of thirsty animals drinking at the various pools. You will spot large herds of buffaloes, zebras, lions and antelopes, among other animals.

Day 5Game drive in Kidepo Valley – encountering the Karamojong pastoral community

You will embark on another game drive, this time around in Kidepo Valley situated in the northern region of the park. On of the major highlights in the region is Kidepo river and its sand bed. The river is seasonal, it does not flow during the long dry spells. It is lined with lush borrasus palms which are a habitat to a great number of bird species.

You also will spot a great number of wildlife animals while driving through the valley. You will most likely see the leopard, ostrich and tortoise. After the drive, you will have a family picnic lunch before setting out to the Karamojong community for a cultural encounter.

The Karamojong people are nomadic pastoralists who draw their livelihood from cattle keeping. As their guides take you through the community, you will see their manyattas – kraals, the grinding stones, the local defence fences, and their cultural dance – edonga, among other things.

Day 6Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

You will check out of your lodge after breakfast, and then set out on a drive to Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s largest national park situated in the North-western region of Uganda. The park boasts a population of over 76 mammal species and more than 450 bird species. The other outstanding attraction in the park are the roaring Murchison waterfalls.

Once you arrive at the park in the late afternoon, you will drive to the top of the falls before checking in at your choice lodging. You will be thrilled at the sight of the cascading waterfalls, rumbling and tumbling over and through the gigantic rocks before squeezing into an 8 meter gorge, and then crushing into the depths below with a deafening thud.

Day 7Game drive in the park and boat cruise at the bottom of the falls

Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin with a game drive along the Albert, Victoria and Buligi tracks. You will see a range of wildlife species including; dozens of elephants, herds of buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, bushbucks, duikers, reedbucks, kobs, oribis and hartebeests. You may also be able to spot lions as well as leopards.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile. You will sail upstream to the bottom of Murchison falls, spotting hippos and crocodiles at the water banks. You will also be able to spot a variety of bird species including; the Nightjars, Abyssinians ground hornbills, Marabou storks, Giant herons, Giant kingfishers and shoebill storks.

Day 8Transfer to Kibale National Park – birding in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin as you transfer to Kibale National Park in the morning after having breakfast. Once in Kibale, you will embark on a birding excursion in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary – a habitat to over 138 bird species.

These species include the; Western Nicator, Grey-winged robin chat, Black bishop, Brown-throated wattle-eye, Superb sunbird, White-tailed ant thrush, Brown-backed scrub robin, Black and white shrike-flycatcher, Hairy-breasted barbet, Yellow-billed barbet, White-spotted flufftail, and the Black-crowned wax bill.

Some of the rare species include the; Papyrus canary, Papyrus gonolek, White-collared olive back, and the White-winged warbler. Birding is done along the boardwalk trail and viewing platforms. You will retire to your choice accommodation in the late evening.

Day 9Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park – transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will report to Kanyanchu Tourism Centre in the early morning to begin your day’s wildlife safari adventure. The chimp trekking excursion lasts between 2-8 hours. Once you encounter a community, you will spend an hour observing its members as they go about their daily routine.

Besides encountering chimpanzees, this wildlife safari tour in Kibale is your chance to see 13 other primate species which make their abode in the park. These include; black and white Columbus monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, Bush babies and pottos.

After the chimpanzee trekking experience, you will return back to your lodge, have a family lunch and take some time to unwind before embarking on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On your way to Queen Elizabeth, you will visit the crater lakes region to explore the mass of eye-catching lakes formed as a result of volcanic explosions.

Day 10Game drive in Kasenyi plains – boat cruise on Kazinga channel

Your Magical Mother Nature safari excursion in Queen Elizabeth will begin with a game drive at 6:30am after an early breakfast. You will head out to the famous Kasenyi plains with an experienced game ranger. The plains are a mass of African savannah known for harbouring the largest concentration of game as compared to any other section in the Queen Elizabeth Park. Besides being a habitat to big game and predators, the plains harbour various species of wetland birds.

You will head back to your lodge in the early afternoon to have a family lunch before setting out for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel. The launch cruise along the channel is one of the most popular excursions in the Park. You get to sit back and enjoy the sight of elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, kobs and large herds of hippos on the riverbanks.

Occasionally, visitors are able to spot leopards, lions and forest hogs. Besides the various mammals, the channel is a habitat for various species of water birds.

Day 11Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – drive through Ishasha region

After having breakfast, the family will embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through Queen Elizabeth’s famous Ishasha region – the home of the tree-climbing lions. As you drive through Ishasha, you will be amazed at the sight of the peculiar lions languidly stretched out in massive tree branches.

You will also be able to spot other wildlife species in the region. You will have lunch en route and arrive at Bwindi in the early evening.

Day 12Gorilla trekking and Batwa trail experience

Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin when you report at the park headquarters for a briefing and necessary preparations before hitting the marked out trails to embark on a gorilla trekking excursion. Gorilla trekking is done in groups of eight and the trek lasts between 2-8 hours before encountering a habituated family.

Once you meet a family, you will spend an hour observing its members as they go about their routine in their habitat. You will be allowed to take photographs and capture videos during the experience. When the hour expires, you will hike back to the park headquarters. You will encounter a variety of wildlife and bird species in the forest.

Your wildlife safari adventure in Bwindi will also include a cultural trail – a visit to the native Batwa pygmy people. The Batwa are some time referred to as forest people, you will hear their story first-hand and watch them demonstrate their way of life.

Day 13Transfer to Mgahinga National Park and Lake Bunyonyi

You will spend the thirteenth day of your Magical Mother Nature safari in Mgahinga National Park. The park is situated in Kisoro district, in the far south-western region of the country. Besides Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga is the only other park protecting the endangered mountain gorillas and also home to the golden monkeys in Uganda.

You will be able to trek the golden monkeys in the park. After the excursion, you will have lunch and embark on a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will reach in the late evening.

Day 14 Boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi – explore the Islands – return to Kampala

On the last day of your Magical Mother Nature safari, you will have breakfast and then go for a boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi translated ‘the place of many little birds’ is a habitat to over 200 bird species and is the location of 29 islands spread across its waters.

As you explore the islands, you will spot various bird species including; the white-tailed blue monad, herons, grey-crowned crane, egrets, levillant cuckoo, cardinal woodpecker and the slender-billed baglafetch. Lake Bunyonyi is a birder’s paradise.

After the birding excursion, you will have a family lunch and then embark on a drive back to Kampala. Your guide will drop you at your residence or drive you to the airport if you have a flight to catch.
